Jim Neal concentrates his practice on complex litigation including medical malpractice, products liability and wrongful death claims. He has broad experience in personal injury and general litigation, with a background including insurance defense and the representation of physicians and their insurance carriers. He has represented primarily patients in medical negligence claims since 1988 in Tennessee, Texas and Georgia. Since his association with Summers & Wyatt, P.C., Mr. Neal has obtained substantial settlements for his injured clients and their families. As an example, he worked with Tom Wyatt and with the law firm of Herman, Herman, Katz & Cotlar of New Orleans, Louisiana, on a case where, on behalf of a workers' compensation client burned over 90% of his body from the explosion of a pressurized dye machine used in the textile industry, a $3,350,000 settlement was obtained from a Louisiana manufacturer. Examples of the types of medical malpractice claims that Mr. Neal has dealt with include injuries and deaths from surgical procedures, failure to diagnose life threatening conditions, labor and delivery complications and complications from treatment at emergency rooms, hospitals, clinics, and out-patient surgery centers. Along with Jerry Summers, Mr. Neal has also represented several families in the Tri-State Crematory litigation.
